Federal Communications Commission — US agency regulating electronic devices that emit radio frequency.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is the US agency regulating electromagnetic interference from electronic devices. Products that emit radio frequency (RF) energy — including Wi-Fi devices, Bluetooth products, and digital electronics — must comply with FCC rules (47 CFR Part 15 for most consumer devices). Compliance requires testing by an accredited lab, and the FCC ID or Declaration of Conformity must be displayed on the product.

Examples

  • A seller importing Bluetooth speakers to the US must obtain FCC certification (FCC ID) from an accredited testing lab before selling.
  • Products causing harmful interference can be seized by US Customs, and sellers may face FCC enforcement actions.
  • Amazon US listings for RF-emitting products (Wi-Fi routers, Bluetooth devices) require the FCC ID to be displayed in the listing.
