Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Crossborder Tax Tool collects, what it does not collect, and how third-party services are used.

Who operates this site

Crossborder Tax Tool is a free reference website for cross-border ecommerce tax, compliance, logistics, and payments. For questions or privacy concerns, contact [email protected].

What we do not collect

There is no account system and no application database.

Browsing reference content — including glossary terms, HS codes, comparison pages, templates, guides, tax calendars, and the self-check tool — does not require personal information and is not linked to any user profile.

Please do not type personal, sensitive, or confidential business information into feedback fields.

Browser storage

The self-check tool may use browser storage to keep your answers and interface preferences on your device so results can work as you navigate.

On-site search uses Pagefind, which loads a pre-built search index in your browser. No search queries are sent to a server.

You can clear this data at any time by clearing site data in your browser.

Analytics

We use PostHog in privacy mode to understand which pages are visited and whether the self-check tool works correctly.

The extra labels we add are limited to locale, page path, and short preset labels for topic interest. These labels identify a page or topic, not a person. We do not send questionnaire answers, raw search queries, referrer, or free-text feedback to analytics.

PostHog may process technical usage data such as IP address, device information, and pages viewed as part of providing analytics infrastructure.

Email collection

Some pages include an optional email signup form for receiving updates about cross-border tax compliance changes.

Email addresses are collected only when you voluntarily submit the form and provide explicit consent.

Email addresses are NEVER sent to PostHog or any analytics service. They are processed solely by the configured email delivery adapter.

You can unsubscribe at any time by contacting [email protected].

Lead generation form

Some guide pages include a form where you can request a quote from a compliance service provider.

When you submit this form, your email, target market, and compliance needs are sent to a third-party form service (Tally). This site does not store your personal information.

Tally processes submitted data under its own privacy policy. You may contact Tally directly to request deletion of your data.

Anonymous analytics events are fired when the form is opened or submitted, carrying only enum values (market code and need categories) — never your email or message content.

Search engine indexing

We submit public page URLs to search engines via the IndexNow protocol so new and updated reference content can be discovered and indexed promptly.

Only public page URLs are submitted — no personal data, search queries, or user identifiers are included.

We also publish XML sitemaps listing all public pages. These are read by search engine crawlers and do not contain personal data.

Service providers

The site is hosted on Vercel. Analytics are provided by PostHog. On-site search is provided by Pagefind.

Those providers process data under their own policies and infrastructure controls.

Your choices

You can use all reference content, tools, and guides without creating an account.

You can block analytics scripts with browser settings or privacy tools, and you can clear browser storage at any time.

For questions or privacy concerns, contact [email protected].

This is a preliminary self-check, not tax advice. Decisions on registration, tax charging or collection, return filing and payment should be confirmed with a qualified professional. Questionnaire answers are used only to generate the result; see the Privacy Policy for details.
