EORI (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) is a unique identification number required for businesses involved in customs activities in the EU. EORI numbers are used in all customs declarations and are required to import or export goods within the EU customs territory. Non-EU businesses must obtain an EORI number from the customs authority of the EU country where they first lodge a customs declaration.
Examples
- • A Chinese seller importing goods to the EU must apply for an EORI number from the customs authority of the first EU country where goods arrive.
- • EORI numbers are required for all customs declarations in the EU; goods cannot clear customs without a valid EORI.
- • Amazon may require sellers to provide an EORI number for customs-related services like Remote Fulfillment with FBA.
