FCL (Full Container Load)

Category: logistics

Shipping where one shipper uses an entire container (20ft or 40ft).

FCL (Full Container Load) is a shipping method where one shipper's cargo fills an entire container. Standard sizes are 20ft (33 CBM) and 40ft (67 CBM). FCL is more cost-effective per unit for larger volumes and offers faster transit times than LCL.

Examples

  • A 40ft FCL container from Shenzhen to Los Angeles costs approximately $3,000-8,000 depending on season.
  • FCL containers go directly from origin to destination without consolidation stops.
  • Peak season (Aug-Nov) FCL rates can double or triple compared to off-peak.
